Counselling

Mental Health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, related to others and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Counseling psychology is a psychological specialty that encompasses research and applied work in several broad domains: counseling process and outcome; supervision and training; career development and counseling and prevention and health.

Counseling is a collaborative effort between the counselor and client. Professional counselors help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil, seek to improve communication and coping skills; strengthen self-esteem and promote behavior change and optimal mental health.

Counselling is a process of talking about and working through your personal problems with a counsellor. The Counselling Cell in the school was initiated in the year 2017 by Rev. Sr. Marina Thomas.  The counsellor in the school helps to address students’ problems in a positive way by helping them clarify their issues, explore options, develop strategies and increase self-awareness.

Our students undergo comprehensive school counseling which are developed, delivered and maintained to promote student achievement in academic, career and personal and social domains.

The Students can approach the counselor of the school at any time they feel the need or when they experience any mental health condition, such as depression, anxiety or any confusion relating to career options.  When difficult life events take place in their life such as bereavement; a relationship breakdown or when they experience difficult emotions for example low self-esteem or anger.

Counselling can be useful for anyone who wants to explore the way they’re thinking of feeling further, as well as for anyone experiencing a problem or issue they are keen to resolve.
