Past Pupils are those who used to attend a particular school/institution or be a student of a particular teacher. An Alumni Association is an association of graduates or, more broadly, of former students of an institution.

The Past Pupils Association was formed on 19th July, 2014. 49 members enrolled themselves in the Margaretian Alumni Association. The group was animated on the purpose, aims and objectives of the alumni and the possible mission it could take up. The aim of the alumni is to render contributions towards social services. The alumni continue to take up noble tasks like charitable acts to the poor and the needy especially sponsoring scholarships for student’s education.

A Brief History of the Margaretian Alumni Association (MAA):

The Margaretian Alumni Association took its formal shape on 19th July 2014 with 49 enrolled members. It was a gathering that refreshed the mind of the past pupils who came to cherish the memories of those days when they were learning to learn and be what they are today. This gave them encouragement and enthusiasm and they parted with determination to come back to be together again and form the association. Thus on 19 July 2014, the second General meeting of the Past pupils was held by the school. The day was bright and beautiful as the staff and students of the school prepared to receive them on this propitious day. Rev. Sr.Mary Concepta Dkhar the Provincial Superior of the Province of Shillong was the Chief Guest and the resource person to animate the group. The staff and students of Classes X and XII prepared a colorful programme to help the seniors cherish the memories of the past. In the events that followed the office bearers were elected and their responsibilities explained. The group was animated on the purpose, Aims and Objectives of the Alumni and the possible mission it could take up. Encouraged by the vision of the congregation, the team decided to take up the cause of the poor children to start with in their road to social service. They raised Fund through appeals and a mini fete conducted in the school which led them to the celebration of a very meaningful children’s day on 15thNovember 2014 in the school campus for the street children and the children of the Ferrando Shelter Home, Mawroh. The children were brought to the school campus by Pastor Ruben Laloo the Director of Reach Ministry, Shillong who takes care of the street children through his Ministry and Sr.Teresa Salemthangi MSMHC the Director of Ferrando Shelter Home, Mawlai .There were 74 Children who were felicitated with a cultural show. They were served snacks sponsored by one of the teachers, sweets brought in by one of the MC Members and a lunch prepared by the Alumni. This was followed by a General Eye Medical Camp by the doctors who are past pupils and serving in the hospitals of Shillong. They were sent home with a very useful gift which included a blanket, cream, oil, tooth paste, tooth brush and soap. This brought much joy to everyone as they saw the faces of the children beaming with joy and feeling good that they too are important.

The Association continues to take up noble tasks like charitable act to the needy and sponsoring scholarship for students’ education.
